Preloved Toy Workshops: Play, Learn, Swap! Aug 2024
Join us for our Preloved Toy Workshops: Play, Learn, Swap! where you will discover what happens to your toys when you are finished with them through hands-on, interactive experiences. We will explore the importance of sustainability and the joy of giving back to the environment and our community.
Time & Location
10 Aug 2024, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Randwick, 27 Munda St, Randwick NSW 2031, Australia
About the Event
In Australia, 27 million toys end up in landfill annually, contributing to 6% of global plastic landfill waste. This workshop will guide both children and adults towards sustainability and community building through the simple act of sharing toys rather than letting them go to landfill. Location: Randwick Sustainability Hub, 27 Munda St, Randwick NSW 2031
Time & Sessions:
- Saturday Session 1: 10am - 11am (Ages: 5 - 7yrs)
- Saturday Session 2: 11am - 12pm (Ages: 8 +yrs)
Tickets: This will be a ticketed event with each ticket covering one child and their accompanying adult. For a limited time, we're offering an introductory price of $5 per ticket. Please note all children need to be accompanied by an adult so both the parent/carer (toy purchaser) and child can get involved.
1 hour Toy Workshop:
- Explore Toys: Learn about toy lifespans and environmental impact.
- Bring Preloved Toys: Give them a second life and reduce waste.
- Hands-On: Clean, sort, and package toys for reuse.
- Sustainable Impact: Create toy boxes for new homes and recycle responsibly.
- All participants will get to swap with others at the end of the session
Don't miss this chance to play, learn, and swap. Let's make a difference together!
What can I bring with me:
- Collect any toys, games, and books that are in good working condition and suitable for reuse.
- Ensure each item is in working order, free of damage and cleaned prior to the day
- You may bring one bag of items plus one large item in total
Simple rules to follow:
- Ask yourself: Is this item good enough for my friend or another kid?
- Due to safety concerns, you must check that all battery-operated items (toys, games and books) are in working condition and replace their batteries when necessary.
- Battery-operated toys should have battery cases secured by screws or other means to prevent children from prying them open.
- We may refuse any items that are not in the desired condition, and you must remove them from the premises.
